Kathleen Fraser, Grievance Officer

About Kathleen

Kathleen Fraser has been a faculty member at Western since 1983, full-time since 2004, and most of that time in the Department of English and Writing Studies. She will never receive 25-year service recognition from the university - and not by choice!

She has taught Theatre, Literature, Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, and Writing. She has been the director of Writing Studies since 2008; this administrative position has provided strong working knowledge of the Collective Agreements.

Since unionization, she has been involved in various aspects of union life, including Collective Bargaining Committees, negotiating teams, the Committee for Contract Faculty, and the Grievance Committee. These experiences have provided background and motivation for the Grievance Officer role as well as a context for how the Collective Agreements have evolved.

In 2016, she was awarded the inaugural Tom Murphy Memorial Award for Outstanding Service to UWOFA.
