About Natalie

Natalie Pietrzak-Renaud is an adjunct and limited-duties Professor for the Faculty of Science. She has taught undergraduate courses at Western since 2009. She has developed and currently teaches an online introductory geology and natural resources course. Although Natalie’s passion is academic research she faces similar challenges as many other contract faculty members and therefore balances volunteer academic involvement and private sector work.

As an adjunct, she co-supervises undergraduate and graduate students on applied- thesis topics that are related to resource geology. As a member of UWOFA she currently serves as a representative for part-time contract faculty on the Board of Directors. Natalie is a licensed professional geoscientist (P.Geo) with the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario and she is a director and senior geologist of a geoscience consulting firm and laboratory she co-founded in 2005. In her professional capacity Natalie consults for mining industry companies throughout the Americas on exploration field programs, mine development projects, mineral process design research and NI 43-101 report writing. She specializes in geometallurgical projects that link mineralogical parameters for process and mine design to a resource’s geological model.
