About Jonathan

Jonathan De Souza is an assistant professor in the Don Wright Faculty of Music, where he has taught since 2013. He also directs an interdisciplinary development initiative at the university, titled "Music, Cognition, and the Brain". This initiative involves faculty members and students from the DWFoM, the Brain and Mind Institute, and the National Centre for Audiology. Jonathan's research combines music theory with cognitive science and philosophy, and his book Music at Hand: Instruments, Bodies, and Cognition was published in 2017. He is also an active jazz violinist.
