I am a Professor of Psychology and a core member of the Brain and Mind Institute at Western University. My research is directed at understanding how people learn new concepts and how they categorize objects and ideas. I also study how conceptual structure influences people’s behaviours, plans, and decisions. I teach on topics related to cognitive psychology at the undergraduate and graduate level and was the 2020 recipient of the Faculty of Social Science “Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching”. I have also been a member of the non-medical research ethics board since 2019. I am the author of the best-selling textbook, “The Psychology of Thinking” and the popular, non-fiction book, “How to Think” published in 2021.
