About Greg

I have been a Professor in Biology, then the Departments of Zoology and Plant Sciences, since 1995 and lecture in the area of Cell and Developmental Biology. I was recruited from the University of Washington, but I am a native Canadian, proudly Indigenous, grew up near Winnipeg and was enrolled at the University of Manitoba where I completed my Honors and Ph.D. degrees. I have more hobbies than I can count (or would want to list) and have received many academic accolades and honours including the Edward G. Pleva Award for Excellence in Teaching and uninterrupted NSERC research funding since joining Western. That said, I bring many years of expertise to the table and have been involved in various capacities on numerous departmental, faculty and university committees as well as with groups outside this great institution. This journey with UWOFA, however, is new to me and I look very forward to contributing to the best of my ability to it and to working with many great colleagues and staff associated with the Board of Directors.
