Western Librarians and Archivists of UWOFA will Return to the Bargaining Table on Friday

Earlier this week UWOFA librarians and archivists voted 74% to reject the tentative agreement that had been negotiated with the employer.

The members rejected the deal amid concerns that it did not address the erosion of the library system at Western and the professionals who work within it.

The Board of Directors of UWOFA has set a strike deadline of 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29 to give both the negotiating team and the employer an opportunity to reach a settlement. Both parties will reconvene at the negotiating table on Friday, October 25.

“Our librarians and archivists care about the libraries and they are fighting for the future of quality education and research at this university,” says John Ciriello, UWOFA President. “The union fully supports this bargaining unit and the membership is solidly behind the negotiating team.”
