UWOFA has been involved with...

Solidarity with other academic unions

  • UWOFA sent a letter and a cheque for $1,500 to support faculty members at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design who are currently on strike.
  • A support letter was also sent to the University of Ontario Institute of Technology Faculty Association. Faculty members at UOIT have since reached a tentative collective agreement with university administrators.

Provincial budget advocacy

  • UWOFA sent a letter to Merrilee Fullerton, minister of Training, Colleges and Universities, urging the provincial government not to cut core operating grants to postsecondary institutions in the upcoming provincial budget.

Supporting student opposition to OSAP changes

  • UWOFA representatives attended a rally on Friday, March 8 in protest of the provincial government's recent changes to OSAP and the student fee structure. The rally was held at MPP Jeff Yurek's office in St. Thomas.

International Women's Day

  • UWOFA celebrated International Women's Day at the 19th annual International Women's Day Breakfast on Friday, March 8 at the London Convention Centre. The event is an annual fundraiser held in support of the London Abused Women's Centre.

Negotiations for librarians and archivists

  • The Collective Agreement for our librarians and archivists ends June 30, 2019. UWOFA's Collective Bargaining Committee has been surveying members of this bargaining unit and preparing goals for the upcoming negotiations, which are anticipated to start in April or May 2019.


  • Members are reminded that under the Collective Agreement they have until April 30, 2019 to request a meeting with their Dean to discuss their APE.
  • Probationary and limited-term members who want to be considered early for promotion and tenure must make a request in writing by March 31. For more details, see the Promotion and Tenure Article in the Faculty Collective Agreement (Clauses 15.4, 15.4.2).
