Librarians and Archivists of UWOFA head back to the bargaining table ahead of strike deadline.

UWOFA librarians and archivists will be in a legal strike position on Tuesday, October 8 at 12:01 a.m. UWOFA’s Board of Directors confirmed the strike deadline following provincially appointed conciliator Greg Long’s submission of a “No Board” Report with the Ontario Ministry of Labour last week.

Members of the bargaining unit voted 97% in favour of giving the negotiating team a strike mandate on August 21. Outstanding issues include complement, collegial governance, workspace and compensation and benefits. The employer has made it clear that it intends to use these negotiations as a means to establish lower compensation standards for all employee groups across campus.

However, talks with the employer continue with bargaining sessions scheduled for the first week of October.

UWOFA remains hopeful that a deal can be reached at the table before the strike deadline.
