UWOFA donates $2,500 to the Humanitarian Coalition for Haiti Earthquake Relief
The Faculty Association at the University of Western Ontario has responded to the tragic earthquake in Haiti. The association, representing close to 1500 unionized faculty members, has donated $2,500 to relief efforts, following the January 12th quake that devastated most of Port-au-Prince. The donation will support the Humanitarian Coalition, a network of NGOs that includes CARE Canada, Oxfam Canada, Oxfam-Québec, and Save the Children Canada.
"The situation in Haiti is dire," said UWOFA president, Regna Darnell, "and financial assistance to relief organizations is critical. UWOFA is committed to supporting the important work of the Humanitarian Coalition."
UWOFA encourages individuals and organizations in the London community to continue supporting the urgent work of these NGOs. Donations can be made directly through the Humanitarian Coalition web site or by phone [1-800-464-9154].
